Hummingbirds in my yard...
After much groaning from from my husband, I tried again last summer and have since been rewarded with a constant parade of hummingbirds outside my window!

The hummingbirds coming to my yard prefer homemade nectar over store bought. Homemade nectar is easy to make - I boil 4 cups of water, add 1 cup of sugar, and stir until the solution is clear indicating the sugar is fully dissolved.

The most common hummingbirds to come to this area are the ruby throated hummingbirds. Only the mature males have the distinctive red throat.
Hummingbird Migration...
They arrive from Mexico in early April and then head back south in early October.
