Hiking in one of Germany's National Parks...
Dandelions in the U.S. and Europe...
While hiking I noticed a number of dandelions. Since dandelions are such a common weed in the U.S., I wondered where they were considered to be native species? According to the USDA, dandelions in the United States are both native and introduced depending on their species. The common dandelion is native to Europe and valued for its medicinal uses as a diuretic, a laxative, and a liver tonic. It was first brought to the United States by the Puritans and other European settlers, and was documented as being well established in New England by 1672.

Relaxing at the spa...
Germany's first UNESCO World Heritage Site...
After the spa, we walked around the city center to see the cathedral, Germany's first UNESCO World Heritage Site and the place where Charlemagne was buried. The mosaics on the ceiling were incredible!
Interestingly, Mayim Bialik (Blossom, Big Bang Theory) was in Aachen the same week we were! This is what she had to say about the city.
After a full day of hiking, relaxing and sightseeing, it was time to move on to the Netherlands!
