Oahu, Hawaii!
Early morning trip to see sharks...
Snorkeling in a shark cage...
Nothing to fear...The sharks weren't scary at all! We saw about 15 Galapagos sharks who were 10 - 15 feet long, and they swam right around us, seemingly uninterested in our tasty fingers and toes... What are Galapagos Sharks doing in Hawaii?!?!Though Hawaii is pretty far away from the Galapagos Islands, the Galapagos Sharks can be found in tropical waters around the globe where they prefer clear water and coral or rocky bottoms, which are usually near islands. They are common sharks in Hawaii but are considered "Near Threatened" since their populations are declining in areas where there is intense fishing pressure. We were fortunate to have met so many from a safe distance!
